| Supercomm Panel - 10/40/100G Migration challenges |
|
mdi will join three industry leaders on the only Supercomm panel to address the challenges of migrating carrier networks to 10G, 40G and 100G. The first 10G network transmissions exhibited previously unkown problems and signal impairments, such as dual pulses associated with PMD, and infrastructure managers and developers had to learn how to deal with them. The panel will show how to tame the uncertainty of migrating to mesh networks and 40/100Gbps transmission speeds, and will blend past lessons learned and innovative diagnostic solutions (ie, finding in-situ optical impairments in real-time). Panelists will also discuss the emerging challenges of predicting the lifetime of an existing network, by posing and answering the question: are we building future networks on a house of cards", based on fiber that is aging out? The panel comprises: * Glenn Wellbrock, Dir Backbone Network Design, Verizon. * Kaveh Hushyar, Telecommunications entrepreneur and advisor, former officer and VP Network Planning and Engineering, AT&T. * Jim Benson, Head of DWDM Sales, N.America, Nokia Systems Networks. * David Wright, President and CEO, mdi. The panel session will be held on Friday 23 October from 12.20pm - 1.05 pm in room W183c We look foward to seeing you at the panel session. Read the Supercomm 2009 press release
