From Hardware to Software: mdi will change the way $100Bn in Internet Backbone Infrastructure is managed.
Through it's patented software and sensor design IP, mdi is laying the ground for smart infrastructure. For the first time, network operators can, in real time, monitor the state of their optical fiber infrastructure, exploiting sunk costs and limiting catastrophic failures – without taking down revenue-generating networks. The result - significant direct savings in operating networks and even greater indirect savings from automating many manual activities. To date, mdi is also the only company that allows telecom carriers to identify multiple performance impairments (such as OSNR, PMD, CD, and many more) on live fiber optic systems. This helps them to qualify wavelengths for upgrade prior to undertaking costly deployment actions, and accelerates rollout.
mdi sells software to carriers and system vendors who operate high- speed optical networks , both directly and through distribution and OEM partners. Our software based business enables multiple channels by selling versions tailored to individual markets.
Our goal is to deliver upgradable software to allow operators and OEMs to add capabilities as needed with no disruption and at minimal cost. Continuous monitoring enables carriers to detect and diagnose problems before they take down links and networks. Only with mdi can operators deploy agile networks and manage self-aware optical infrastructures in real time.
Our first product, the eyeD 360 network appliance , is tailored to Carriers and System Vendors deploying additional capacity over existing infrastructure at minimal cost. The eyeD 360 is also ideal for lab and field testing environments. Embedded versions of our game-changing eyeD technology will also be available to OEM to integrate into thousands of network elements. An embedded version of in-bandOSNR is already available to address current measurement challenges in optical networks migrating to ROADM.
