in-band OSNR embedded sensor product information |
The Solution to your Monitoring Problems! All on less than a dime! The in-band OSNR embedded sensor enables OEMs to address current limitations in traditional out-of-band monitoring techniques: they cannot measure OSNR accurately in optical networks with Reconfigurable OADMs (ROADM), higher bit-rates (40Gbps) or denser channel plans (50Ghz).
mdi’s patented technology provides a true in-band OSNR measurement that can fit within the traditional foot-print of optical channel performance monitors and that does not include moving mechanical parts. Highlights - Sensor addresses current limitations of traditional OSNR measurement techniques
- True in-band OSNR measurement using low frequency beat noise
- Multiple modulation formats and bit-rates supported
- Hardware reference design available for 50GHz and 100GHz WDM channel plans
- Powerful and lightweight signal processing software available in form of DSP
Benefits
- Compatible with optically transparent ROADM networks
- Small foot-print ideally suited for integration into amplifier and monitoring cards
- Monitoring of mixed 10G/40G traffic with common sensor
- Cost effective sensor with low-frequency optical receivers; no moving mechanical parts
- Save on future monitoring upgrades to cope with new modulation formats
