Hun Gan
Director

Hun Gan is an Investment Director at Starfish Ventures. He has six years experience in venture capital and seven years working in the telecommunications and ICT industries. Prior to joining Starfish Ventures in 2003, Hun was an Investment Manager at N M Rothschilds & Sons Australia. Hun started his career at Telstra Research Laboratories working with various technologies including Internet technologies, e-Commerce services and Interactive TV. As a Project Leader and Research Engineer, Hun evaluated emerging technologies and applied this knowledge to successfully develop new prototype Telstra products and services. He provided expert consulting skills to solve network and business problems, as well as helping shape Telstra’s digital TV strategy and infrastructure planning. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical ) (Hons) and a Bachelor of Science (Computer Science) from the University of Melbourne, and an MBA from the Melbourne Business School.  
 
Olivier Jerphagnon

Olivier Jerphagnon was appointed CEO in November 2009. He has more than 10 years of experience in Optical Telecom and international business development, having worked with Tier-1 customers in North America, Europe and Asia. As the first employee of the US mdi office, he joined our company to drive the Marketing & Sales strategy before taking on the leadership role . A serial entrepreneur, Mr. Jerphagnon delivered multiple award-winning products from lab to market. He was previously part of the starting team at Calient Networks, and started his career working on early WDM systems at Alcatel Submarine Networks. At Calient, he took on a series of increasing leadership roles in Engineering, Marketing and Sales and was last Vice President for Europe leading business development in the Fiber-To-The-Home market. Mr. Jerphagnon holds an M.S. degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara and is a Graduate of the Grenoble Institute of Technology in France. He is a seasoned conference speaker, a sought-after writer, and creator of a yearly innovation award in France.

 

 

Terry Unter
Independent Director

Dr Unter’s thirty year international career has included senior management leadership roles in large corporations and in entrepreneurial start-ups. He is President and CEO of Mintera Corporation, a venture-capital funded supplier of high bit-rate optical subsystems.  Before this Dr. Unter was Chief Operating Officer at Corvis Corporation, a supplier of optical communications systems which grew from a venture funded start-up to a publicly traded company. During the early 1990’s he led the creation of Alcatel Optronics, a multinational organization headquartered in France supplying optoelectronic components and subsystems. From 1988 to 1991, Dr. Unter was General Manager of an Alcatel joint venture in Shanghai, China producing integrated circuits for telecommunications.  Dr. Unter holds B.Sc. (honors) and Ph.D. degrees in Electronic Engineering from Southampton University in the United Kingdom.
