Trevor Anderson

Trevor Anderson is the company technology leader and brings a unique multi-disciplinary experience in optical communications and pattern recognition. He was previously Project Leader for optical performance monitoring at NICTA where he developed the intellectual property that led to the creation of the company. He also held leadership technology positions at JDSU where he was Product Development Manager for optical modules, and at Telstra Research Laboratories where he collaborated with Dr. Kowalczyk who was pioneering  the application of patter recognition techniques for Telecom applications. Mr. Anderson is an invited speaker and widely a published expert in the field of optical communications. He holds several patents and more than 40 publications. Trevor Anderson received a Master of Physics from the University of Auckland, New Zealand.
 
Ken Clarke

Ken Clarke has been part of the Photonics industry for over 20 years. He spent 5 years with Barr & Stroud (now Pilkington Optronics) in Glasgow on both military and medical projects before a move to Australia in 1990 to Australia’s largest carrier, Telstra. Over the next 15 years he worked on many telecommunications projects from advanced fiber manufacture, investigation and consultancy of field issues with optical plant, to Manager for Telstra’s DWDM laboratory where he conducted R&D of future high-speed optical-network technology. Ken worked with NICTA for 2 years before spinning-out to mdi. Mr Clarke obtained his B. Sc (hons.) degree in Applied Physics from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh.
 

Sarah Dods

Sarah Dods co-founded Monitoring Division (mdi) as it spun out from NICTA and commenced business in March 2007, serving as mdi's VP Operations until she left the company in September 2009 . At NICTA where she was a Principal Researcher involved in the pre-commercial development of our technology. She has also worked for VPIsystems as a senior optical engineer, and for Comalco, an aluminium producing subsidiary of Rio Tinto, in various technical roles. Dr Dods holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering and a BSc(hons) in Physics, both from the University of Melbourne, and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She has a broad conference and journal publications record, and holds several patents. She is a Senior Member of the IEEE and currently serves on the technical program committee for OFC. With over 14 years over of experience in photonics research and development, Sarah is now running Technology Meets Business, assisting companies, entrepreneurs and academics/researchers to realize the potential of new technologies in the marketplace.

 

Adam Kowalczyk

Adam Kowalczyk is a recognized international expert in artificial intelligence. Dr. Kowalczyk is a principal researcher within the NICTA theme of Making Sense of Data. As co-founder of mdi he drove the application of pattern recognition techniques to solve critical challenges in the Telecom and Medical space. Dr. Kowalczyk worked previously as Principal Scientist at Telstra Research Laboratories from 1984  to 2004, where he led several projects in artificial intelligence systems. Prior to this he was Research Fellow at Monash University, Australia and Lecturer at the University of Baghdad, Irak and Lecturer at the Warsaw University of Technology, Poland. Dr. Kowalczyk has received numerous awards and several patents over his diverse scientific career in the areas of applied mathematics, neural networks, pattern recognition and bioinformatics. He received his Master of Science and PhD from the Warsaw University of Technology.

 

David Wright
david wright
David Wright co-founded Monitoring Division inc.(mdi) and has served as its CEO and President since the company commenced its business in March 2008 through to November 2009. From September 2006 Mr Wright was the Director of Commercialisation at NICTA Ltd up until our company spun out of NICTA. As a serial entrepreneur, Mr Wright co-founded and served as joint CEO of T3 Communications (sold to Pacific Internet), Slice Wireless (merged with U-Turn) and One.Tel Networks. At One.Tel Networks, Mr Wright lead a team commencing with three staff that within 2 years raised $2Bn in project finance and developed, constructed, launched and operated a nationwide wireless mobile business in Australia. Mr Wright holds degrees in Commerce (BComm) and Law (LLB, GDLP) and is admitted as a Solicitor and Barrister of the Federal and High Court of Australia and Supreme Court of A.C.T.)
