mdi was created to fill critical gaps in network diagnostic tools for carriers migrating from SONET to IP over Optics, and to lay the groundwork for smart optical infrastructure. 

mdi uses unique pattern recognition and optical monitoring techniques to fill these gaps, and to build the new field of live network health management.

mdi’s in-service monitoring software is the first to provide real-time insight into fiber networks.  We deliver creative software solutions and tools enabling telecom systems vendors, carriers and technicians to quickly and cost-effectively characterize fiber assets for network migration to 40G+, easily find impairments, and continuously manage high-speed networks.

mdi : more than meets the eye

At the core of the mdi solutions are unique pattern-recognition algorithms that can detect and diagnose distortion in optical signals to quickly quantify all optical impairments. The state of the signal is represented in a two-dimensional histogram called a ‘phase portrait,’ which contains more diagnostic information than the old eye diagram.

Through constant innovations mdi will provide real-time capabilities for end-to-end optical layer management. Our solutions will ultimately change the way optical network health is monitored and managed, giving our customers the necessary intelligence to ensure quality of service, high-capacity utilization and network automation.
